Stepping out of the role of guardian a moment...Aquattrox is a fictitious sport, devised for a series of books by English author, Lorna Reid.  The author wanted to paint as realistic a world as possible and in devising the main city to feature in the first book, Rise of the Reaper, the sport of Aquattrox came into being.

Most advanced civilisations and societies throughout history have had sport and games as an integral part of their culture and the author wished the world she was creating to be no different, feeling strongly that it would give it a hard and realistic edge and further deepen the place in which she was gradually spending more and more time.

Taking some inspiration from the violent sport of the Mayan civilisation and building on the desire for an frenetic aquatic game, Aquattrox was slowly constructed. The desire for a realistic, fast paced, and often dangerous sport that reflected the society and world of the books was a strong and important one.  Aquattrox is in no way a game a person can just pick up and Aclys and try - due to it’s often violent nature, it is more of a spectator sport, though that is not without it’s risks either...

The game and it’s elements were drawn together from many ideas and inspirations, such as the breathtaking but terrifying water spouts and tornados from our own world, to things like lacross sticks, armour, the way canoeists hold their paddles, and flares (not the trouser kind).  As fantasti a time as the author had creating the sport, devising the list of penalties and inventive cheats took almost as long and was even more enjoyable.  Many an afternoon was whiled away in the mindscape of the Aquarvum where opposing players would be shoved off Delphanns, spouted, or linechecked, causing much merriment (and perplexed looks from those seated nearby).

Hopefully this explaination of what this site is about has helped in some way – it isn’t just here to represent the webby scratchings of a lunatic but rather to present an online face and ‘archive’ of the sport that the author created and loves.
